Editing Photos (P4, P5, M4 & D2)

Chosen:
In the images above, you can see that I have decided to use photoshop as the software to edit and add text to my images for my final photos, I have done this to add more depth and detail to the images and this allows the audience to stay engaged and excited by the photos. I exported my images as JPEGs to ensure the pictures maintain a good quality for all platforms that I will be using to share my portfolio (print and online). I also decided to save my photos as a PNG and as a Tiff. The good thing about saving my photos as a PNG as it compresses the image without losing the quality of my images. This helps when sharing the image as it's a small file size and still saves the quality of the image. By also saving my image as a Tiff it maintains the high quality and is a suitable type of saving method when wanting to print.
P5:
DPI 300 Photos:
I have saved my 300DPI pictures as a tiff file this is because it is suitable for print as well as online and they maintain all of the quality of the pictures. If I wanted to compress it the quality would still be fit for purpose as the file type is perfect for large printing such as a billboard as well as posters scubas tube posters.
Justification:
I am saving all my pictures as a 300DPI as these will be used for print for example newspapers or magazine but it can also be used as posters. These photos are really high quality and resolution and as a result it makes the images sharp and not blurry and therefore are suitable to be printed for my portfolio.
DPI 72:
I have also saved all my as a 72DPI in the format of a JPEG (JPG) a JPEG is useful as it means that the photos can be smaller but also can still remain a high quality image and the quality is not reduced, this as a result means that the smaller images are better for online use as they will load faster and not take up too much storage as well as this it will be accessible digitally and readily available. Due to this I will be saving the images I intend to use on my portfolio as a JPEG and as a 72 DPI
Justification:
I am also saving all of my images as a 72DPI photo this means it will be used for online uses such as websites, online advertisements, social media posts and digital articles which can be shared. This is due to the fact that these smaller versions of the images have a really fast loading time which is better when using these photos digitally. Additionally, these images will have a better optimisation and will look clearer for the viewer.

D2:
The image shown above has been cropped and changed in order to chance the aspect of the image, before I cropped the mage it had a lot of empty space above and around the edges. By cropping the image even though the image was already clear now there is more attention and focus on the subject itself. The cropping of the image allows views to understand what the subject is doing which is tying her laces while also seeing her facial expressions which you can see her furrowed brows with clear focus which represents her concentration which means the viewers will understand the narrative better.
Black and White filter:
In the image above I have portrayed manipulation of the image, this was done through the use of colour. The image before was seen in full colour with greens, black white and more however the new image demonstrates stripping the image back to the basics of black and white. The image now allows for full focus on the action itself within the image therefore the viewers can fully understand the narrative taking place within the photograph. The viewers can clearly see the skill it takes to carry out the action due to the muscles shadowing showing strenuous activity taking place.
Exposure:
In the image above I have changed the exposure of the original image this allows the sunset in the background to be less vibrant and bright and therefore the image itself and the ball is more focused and clearer to see for the viewers. The image before was a little over exposed where as now the exposure is slightly under which leaves the image with a slightly old picture effect. The use of under exposure allows the main focus of the ball to be clear for the viewer which makes it more appealing and aesthetic for the viewer.
Colour:
In the photo above I have changed the colour settings within the frame, before I edited the image the raw photo contained more of a yellow hue due to the sun which made the image look slightly unrealistic due to the skin colour, however I have altered the image I added a slightly reed and green hue and as a result the skin colour looks more realistic and the grass looks more green which makes image more appealing and aesthetic for the viewers.
Blur:
In the image above I have blurred the foreground and the background as before I added this effect the image was only blurred in the foreground however after I edited the image to all of it being slightly blurred this adds more mystery to the image and as a result leaves viewers to question why the image is blurred but also be interested and excited by the action the subject is completing and the image is creating.
Add Text:
In the image above I have added text to the image, I have decide to add a modern serif font this means the font is more mature and elegant. I have added the words "Goal" to the image, I added the text to help build the narrative to match the action being portrayed within the image as the subject is about to score a goal and therefore the viewers can read and see the action which helps the viewers to fully understand.
